What the evidence supports
The United States was too reliant on foreign sources of commercial unmanned aircraft systems and critical drone components.
The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission reported that DJI accounted for more than 90% of the U.S. commercial drone market. Associated Press reporting likewise documented that most commercial drones sold in the United States were made in China and that even U.S. manufacturers depended on Chinese batteries and other parts. This assessment supports the core reliance claim; it does not rate the proclamation's tariff design, legality or predicted effects.
